Ukrainian 'Zebra' cake...

I found that recipe in the Internet when looking for some Russian recipes. I made this cake because the recipe sounded very interesting and there was no picture with it and I wanted to see it. The Zebra cake was very easy and it really looks great - maybe not exactly like zebra but something in common ;) It has no fat (butter, oil etc.) in it - but 2 cups of sugar... The only 'difficulty' with this cake that one can have, is to create those colourful layers. Two bowls and two big spoons will easily solve this problem :)

How to make it...

Ingredients
bowl with the white batter:
- 2 eggs
- 150 ml natural yogurt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons flour
bowl with the brown batter:
- 2 eggs
- 150 ml natural yogurt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons cocoa

In two different bowls prepare two portions of batter - one white and one brown. Just put in all the ingredients and mix very well together. Take two big spoons and first, in your baking dish, create a layer of brown batter, then white, the brown, white, brown etc. till you use all of it. Bake in preheated oven for 55 minutes in 180 C. Serve alone or for example with raspberry sauce.

Smacznego!

Btw, I grew up in Russia (moved to the States when I was 13), so if you want more Russian recipes, let me know! I blogged about some of them.
